New bus shelter completed at the main road stop
The concrete shelter at the main road bus stop is finished, with seating and a roof that will finally hold through the rains.
The new bus shelter at the main road stop was handed over to the panchayat this week.
The old shelter had been standing for close to twenty years and had lost most of its roof in the last monsoon. Students waiting for the morning bus and elderly passengers travelling to the hospital were the worst affected, often standing in the open for half an hour or more.
What has been built
- A covered shelter with a concrete roof
- Seating for roughly twelve people
- A raised platform so water does not collect underneath
- A board for panchayat notices
What comes next
The panchayat has said that a light will be fitted at the shelter before the end of the month, which should make the early morning and late evening waits considerably safer.
